you don't need to upgrade Wolfy , but from what I've read 7 is faster than vista . and from my experience waiting till the bugs are worked out is a good idea

i have never bought an upgrade version because I dont like to upgrade. I'd rather spend the extra money for the full version or you can save money by buying an OEM version but usually you have to purchase a peice of hardware with it.
If you have the money to spend then I would buy Windows 7, as it fixes many of the screw ups that Vista brought to us. As for waiting for SP1, I would say no because many of the bugs have been fixed with the beta version. They had it out for about a year and people report the problems they found or things that should either be implemented or fixed to be user friendly, and Microsoft did.
I am still using the evaluation copy of Windows 7 and never had any issues with it. I think it is a great product, expensive but great.

It used to be that an upgrade would still do a full install. MS never made two different cd's they just named them differently. I have done a full install off an upgrade before. Don't know if it is the same today but it always has been that way.
